Fall Sessions | 2024

Holistic Framework and Tool to Invigorate and Launch a 3-Year Career Development Plan

September 10 | Noon – 1 p.m. | University Square South & Virtual

Dr. Tanya Mathew will guide faculty in tailoring their own 3-year Career Development Plan to achieve their teaching, research, scholarly, service and personal development goals. Prior to the session, all registrants must complete an online self-assessment to determine current knowledge, competencies, behaviors and skills within several domains that are essential to career progression and advancement of the university’s vision, mission and shared values.

Strategic Approach to Service in Higher Education

October 16 | Noon – 1 p.m. | University Square South & Virtual

Dr. Kaprea Johnson will provide faculty members with the knowledge and skills needed to balance service obligations successfully. Participants will learn about the different kinds of service obligations, benefits of being proactive about service, and practical strategies for developing an academic service plan.

Lunch & Learn: Navigating Wellness for Faculty Excellence

November 1 | Noon – 1 p.m. | University Square South

We delve into the dynamic world of academia and wellness. This session recognizes the unique challenges faced by educators and provides practical insights to enhance your overall well-being. Participants will learn about essential tools and strategies for stress management, fostering a culture of wellness within the academic realm, all while enjoying lunch with colleagues from across campus.

Weekly Writing Retreat

Nov. 7, 14, 21 | 10 a.m. – noon | Virtual

Semi-structured writing time weekly during the month of November. The format includes a 20-30 minute didactic (i.e., writing-related presentations) session, and the remaining time is dedicated to writing.

Utilizing Feedback Effectively to Improve Teaching

December 4 | Noon – 1 p.m. | Virtual

Faculty members will dig into the strategic utilization of feedback as a powerful tool for enhancing teaching practices. We’ll explore effective feedback mechanisms, discover innovative ways to collect and analyze feedback, and learn practical strategies for incorporating feedback into their teaching methodologies.
