Travis Sheffler

Director of Faculty Honorifics

Travis Sheffler joined Ohio State’s Office of Faculty Affairs in July 2025 as the Director of Faculty Honorifics, where he leads institutional efforts to elevate and celebrate faculty excellence through external awards recognition. Travis received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a minor in Government from The College of William and Mary in Virginia. After working in finance for four years in Washington, DC, Travis pursued his M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arizona’s Center for the Study of Higher Education and an M.A. in Practical Theology from Ashland Theological Seminary. Now, as a mission-driven leader with more than 25 years of experience working across a range of public research universities and private liberal arts institutions, Travis is committed to advancing strategic initiatives that support faculty achievement, streamline award and nomination processes, and foster a culture of recognition at the highest levels.

Throughout his career, Travis has demonstrated a deep commitment to inclusive excellence, cross-campus collaboration, and data-informed strategy. His professional background in higher education spans faculty development, academic advising, program innovation, career services, and institutional advancement. Prior to joining OSU’s Office of Academic Affairs, he served in leadership and advisory roles at institutions including the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, the University of Maryland, American University, OSU’s Moritz College of Law, Southeastern University, and most recently at Ohio Dominican University, where he served as Director of Career Development.

Outside of academia, Travis enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, acquiring new hobbies and skills, and rooting on the Buckeyes, Blue Jackets, and Washington Commanders.
