Malone joined Ohio State’s faculty in 2005 and joined the Office of Academic Affairs as vice provost for academic policy and faculty resources on June 1, 2019, having previously served as associate chair of the Department of Educational Studies in the College of Education and Human Ecology.
As vice provost, her primary responsibilities include supporting the faculty and the processes of academic human resources, including leading the planning and development of New Faculty Orientation, the New Chair Program, and other faculty development opportunities.
She is a nationally renowned expert in applied behavior analysis whose research focuses on assessment and treatment of challenging behaviors of individuals with severe to profound disabilities. She has been principal or co-principal investigator on U.S. Department of Education grants and principal investigator on several grants from the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Her work is published in numerous chapters in edited books, scholarly journals, and professional presentations.
Professor Malone has taught graduate, undergraduate and K-12 students and was honored as an inaugural inductee into Ohio State’s former School of Physical Activity and Educational Services (PAES) Faculty Teaching Academy. During the 2018-19 academic year, she was a fellow in the Academic Leadership Program of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. She is a member of the Association for Applied Behavior Analysis International.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and linguistics from the University of California at Davis, a master’s degree in special education from New York University, and a PhD in special education: autism and developmental disabilities from The University of Texas at Austin.
