Faculty Honorifics and Planning for Recognition: Building the Long Game

External recognition rarely happens by accident. This session introduces faculty to the long‑term strategies that position careers for prestigious awards, fellowships, and academy honors. Designed especially for assistant and associate professors, the program demystifies how honorifics work, what selection committees value, and how recognition typically unfolds over time. Participants will learn how to think strategically about career choices, visibility, service, and scholarly focus; how to align their work with disciplinary and national recognition pathways; and how Ohio State supports faculty throughout the nomination process. The session emphasizes early, intentional planning to ensure faculty are building a strong foundation for future recognition well before they are formally nominated.
