Friday afternoon tour

College of Veterinary Medicine Educational Training Center

Ohio State’s College of Veterinary Medicine is home to a state-of-the-art education and assessment resource, unique in veterinary education. The center includes almost 9000 square feet of educational space, including a large open lab, seven flexible skills labs and communications rooms. Students begin practicing hands-on skills on day one of their training, supporting students to become competent veterinarians at graduation.

Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum

The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum houses the world’s largest collection of materials related to cartoons and comics, including original art, books, magazines, journals, comic books, archival materials, and newspaper comic strip pages and clippings. Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes look at BICLM’s state-of-the-art archive, as well as an opportunity to view the current exhibits: Depicting Mexico and Modernism: Gordo by Gus Arriola and Behind the Ink: The Making of Comics and Cartoons.

Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory

The Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory is a top priority for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. At its core, it assists CFAES in its mission to Sustain Life. It serves as a hub for teaching, research, and engagement in the areas of food, health, agricultural production, and environmental sustainability.

The 260 acres on The Ohio State University campus already hold various natural features and facilities to support programming, including the Turfgrass Foundation Research and Education Facility, Waterman Dairy, the Honey Bee Research Lab, tillable land, a woodlot, and a stream. Additionally, the recent opening of two new facilities (Kunz-Brundige Franklin County Extension Office and the Controlled Environment Food Production Research Complex) and future planned facilities (renovated Dairy, Multi-species Livestock Learning Center, an Education and Innovation Center) will expand opportunities to prepare the future workforce as Ohio State students engage in hands-on learning, allow for the continuation and advancement of cutting edge research, and promote public and community engagement around a broadly defined agriculture.

NOTE: We will want those on the tour to wear comfortable/closed-toe shoes that can get dirty in case of rainy/muddy conditions.
